About The Position

As a Fiber Splicer Supervisor at Velox, you oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of fiber splicing activities, ensuring the successful deployment, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks. This role involves overseeing the team of fiber splicers, ensuring adherence to quality standards, maintaining project timelines, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in fiber optic splicing, including both single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic standards, construction techniques, and testing methods.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with fiber testing equipment such as OTDR, fusion splicers, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and network diagrams.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to fiber optic installations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and mentor fiber splicing technicians and subcontractors.
  • Schedule and assign daily tasks to ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Plan and coordinate fiber splicing activities for installation, maintenance, and repair projects.
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve challenges.
  • Inspect, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic connections using tools like OTDRs, power meters, and fusion splicers.
  • Perform hands-on fiber splicing and manage complex splicing configurations when required.
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on splicing work to maintain high standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of fiber splicing activities, including test results and as-built documentation.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to fiber optic installation and maintenance.
  • Oversee the procurement and maintenance of splicing equipment and tools.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure the availability of necessary materials.
