The Fiber Splicing Technician splices, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs fiber optic cables. This role is crucial for ensuring proper signal transmission and network performance by performing end-of-line network testing, preparing and organizing cables, building fiber cases and enclosures, and splicing fibers color for color. The technician will also be responsible for cable management, sealing and placement of cases, reading prints and maps, and performing various splicing tasks such as jumping trays and splicing tie points. Additionally, the role involves rehabilitating gel-filled cases, redlining and documenting changes, performing case swaps and audits, and troubleshooting network issues. The technician may also be involved in pulling cable through existing duct packages or conduit and activating underground and aerial lines. Other duties as assigned.
