About The Position

Smurfit Westrock has an opportunity for a Fiber Procurement Business Analyst based out of the Home Office in Atlanta, GA. This position conducts and supports in-depth analytical and business analyses on fiber procurement operations for the recycle & virgin fiber consuming mills. The procurement operations include the total annual purchase of 7 million tons of recycled fiber, 30 million tons of chips, roundwood, and biomass in North America with an annual spend of ~$2 billion. Specifically, this role participates in: This role supports both strategic and tactical planning and analysis across the annual cycle including data acquisition and compilation, BI tool development & data modeling, market research, and report generation. The position translates business data and will develop data models across all key business systems to allow connection of related parts of the supply chain, order & delivery process to identify key operational insights, performance metrics, and process efficiency opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of data analysis or financial analysis experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, with advanced experience in Excel and BI tools and data modeling.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, multiple and non-linear regression, linear programming and project management are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support of all fiber procurement geographic regions, comprising all primary paper mill operations and 24 recycle plant operations.
  • Operational and financial support for efforts pertaining to annual and tactical purchase strategies.
  • Creating and tracking analytics related to fiber quality.
  • Assistance with monitoring recycle & virgin industry fiber market and trends.
  • Assistance with annual and quarterly fiber budgeting process.
  • Analyze safety data for trends and reporting
