About The Position

The Fiber Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks across multiple job sites. This role requires ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards. The technician follows all safety protocols and industry best practices while working on-site and during transit, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality network services.

Requirements

  • Fiber optic network installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and industry best practices
  • Ability to work on-site across multiple job sites
  • Experience with fiber splice enclosures
  • Experience with loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber slicing
  • Experience with Fusion Splicing
  • Experience with unidirectional and bidirectional fiber testing
  • Experience with Light Level Testing, OLTS
  • Experience with fiber troubleshooting and repair
  • Experience with test report generation
  • Ability to coordinate daily crew activities and work schedule
  • Ability to maintain a safe and quality work site
  • Ability to maintain fiber equipment and tools
  • Ability to perform daily inspection of equipment
  • Ability to maintain daily production rates
  • Knowledge of company safety and OSHA practices

Responsibilities

  • Installation of fiber splice enclosures
  • Onsite plant fiber optic cable slicing, to include both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber
  • Fusion Splicing
  • Unidirectional and bidirectional fiber testing
  • Light Level Testing, OLTS
  • Fiber troubleshooting and repair, test report generation.
  • Coordinate daily crew activities and work schedule
  • Maintaining a safe and quality work site and location
  • Maintain Fiber equipment and tools
  • Daily inspection of all equipment assigned to crew
  • Maintain daily production rates
  • Ensure work is conducted in a safe manner and according to company safety and OSHA practices
