About The Position

Temp Join RPM Staffing – Precision Matters in Fiber Optics! We are looking for a detail-oriented Fiber Optic Polish Operator to join our team in McKinney, Texas. In this critical hands-on role, you’ll perform precision polishing of fiber optic connectors to the highest industry standards, ensuring exceptional geometry and optical performance (Insertion Loss and Return Loss) for cutting-edge telecommunications and data center applications. Requirements

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for handling fragile glass fibers and tiny components.
  • Ability to work comfortably under microscopes/magnification for extended periods.
  • Experience reading technical drawings, work instructions, and optical test specifications.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, and manufacturing software).
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and commitment to cleanroom discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in fiber optic polishing, precision manufacturing, or a similar cleanroom environment is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate automated polishing machines using diamond, silicon carbide, and other specialized abrasive films with precise lubricating fluids.
  • Load connectors into polishing jigs/fixtures with exact pressure and alignment to avoid fiber breakage or undercut.
  • Perform manual touch-ups as needed and clean connectors/ferrules using approved solvents while strictly following cleanroom and contamination-control protocols.
  • Inspect fiber end-faces using microscopes, interferometers, and automated image analysis systems; identify and record any defects.
  • Conduct daily maintenance on polishing jigs and machines, replace worn films, and maintain a contamination-free workspace.
  • Accurately record production data, lot numbers, test results, and traceability information in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and required paperwork.
  • Collaborate with production leads, quality assurance, and shipping teams to meet daily schedules and customer delivery requirements.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental health & safety (EHS) policies, including proper PPE usage and lockout/tagout procedures.
