About The Position

Corning is a global leader in materials science, known for its innovation in glass, ceramics, and related materials. The Optical Communications segment provides comprehensive, industry-leading optical solutions for the broader communications industry, including carrier networks and enterprise networks. This role is part of that segment, focusing on providing technical field support and training to customers. The Fiber Optic Field Support Specialist will provide product training, introduce new products, gather customer feedback, and promote Corning Optical Communications' quality policies and best practices within their assigned territories. This role is crucial for ensuring customer success and satisfaction with Corning's fiber optic solutions.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Fiber Optics
  • Possess a driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Able and willing to travel 50% of the time.
  • Interface and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Corning Optical Communications products

Responsibilities

  • Provide after the sale training and field support of Corning Optical Communications fiber optic cable and hardware installations (Inside Plant and Outside Plant).
  • Actively pursue competitive information and report back to Sales.
  • Support field trials and product evaluations for fiber optic cable and hardware installations.
  • Support Sales demonstrations/presentations and trade shows.
  • Support Data Center and fiber to the home (FTTH) installations.
  • Perform training, troubleshooting and field support for both single and ribbon fiber splicing.
  • Teach Tier 1 (light source and power meter) and Tier 2 (OTDR) fiber optic cable field testing applications.
  • Instruct fiber optic installation classes up to 25 students as a qualified instructor or a technical assist role.
