About The Position

The Fiber I&R Travel Technician / Field Technician position is based in Corolla Beach, NC and is full-time. The primary function of this role is to install fiber optic internet services while providing world-class quality workmanship and exceptional customer education for residential and commercial customers. As a Travel Technician, you must be flexible with work locations and willing to relocate temporarily as client work volumes and business needs require.

Requirements

  • Must own a 4-wheel drive truck or SUV equipped with a ladder rack.
  • Due to beach access requirements in Corolla Beach, technicians must be comfortable driving on sand and know how to safely air down tires when necessary to access customer locations. Vans and non-4WD vehicles are not suitable for this role.
  • Must provide and maintain the tools and safety equipment required to perform fiber installation, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. unassisted and work at heights using ladders, in confined spaces, and in various outdoor weather conditions.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass a background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) screening, and drug test, and be willing to travel, relocate temporarily to support work volumes, and work overtime or weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Fiber optic internet and home phone service installation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic systems for residential and commercial customers.
  • Ensure proper performance of internet, phone, and, where applicable, television services.
  • Complete pre-installation work orders, post-installation service verification, and customer education to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Place aerial and buried fiber optic drops and install interior and exterior wiring.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
  • Work at heights using various types of ladders.
  • Work in confined spaces when required.
  • Assist fellow technicians when needed to support team success.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while representing the company and serving customers.
  • Adapt quickly to new processes, technologies, and information.
  • Utilize internal systems for work orders, documentation, and timekeeping.
  • Maintain customer appointments and provide excellent customer service.
  • Meet or exceed quality, productivity, completion, and repeat service metrics.
  • Relocate periodically throughout assigned regions to support client work volumes.
