About The Position

Kiewit is seeking experienced Fiber Field Engineers to support the execution of large-scale fiber optic and telecommunications infrastructure projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality installation, accurate documentation, and seamless coordination between field teams and project leadership. The ideal candidate brings hands-on field experience in fiber construction environments, with a strong understanding of fiber systems, installation standards, and construction workflows. This is a high-visibility role that works closely with superintendents, project engineers, and project managers to drive productivity, quality, and successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in field engineering or construction support (telecommunications/fiber preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with fiber installation projects in field construction environments
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic systems and infrastructure including: Pathways and duct banks, Fiber cabinets and enclosures, Patch panels and splicing, Labeling and documentation standards
  • Experience supporting: QA/QC inspections, Redline markups and as-built documentation, Production tracking and reporting, RFIs, submittals, and material tracking
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, field-driven environments

  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on large-scale telecom, data center, or infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and BIM tools
  • Exposure to design-build or EPC project environments
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day fiber installation activities in active construction environments
  • Coordinate directly with field supervision, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure alignment and execution of work plans
  • Monitor and track production progress, identifying risks or delays and communicating updates to leadership
  • Perform and support QA/QC inspections to ensure work meets project specifications, standards, and client requirements
  • Verify installation of fiber infrastructure including pathways, cabinets, patch panels, splice enclosures, and labeling systems
  • Assist in resolving field issues and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Maintain accurate redline drawings and markups reflecting field changes
  • Support development of as-built documentation and turnover packages
  • Track and maintain project logs including production reports, installation status, and issue tracking
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, and coordination with design teams
  • Track and manage material deliveries, usage, and inventory to ensure project continuity
  • Support field engineering efforts in planning, sequencing, and execution
