The role requires the ability to bend, stand, walk, and climb during inspection days, working at heights up to 15 feet above ground. Responsibilities include witnessing performance testing of water pumps, low voltage systems, and line voltage electrical power sources on automotive fire apparatus/municipal fire pumpers and aerial devices. The role involves evaluating and facilitating options for corrective action when variations from UL requirements are noted, and understanding construction and test acceptance criteria and requirements of applicable sections of Standards and procedures for Special Competency required categories. Communication with manufacturers, customers, Authorities Having Jurisdiction, and others is essential for conducting inspections. Discussions will cover procedures, test methods, test results, sample selection, and variations in products, devices, processes, systems, and materials to resolve problems, implement changes, or develop new requirements. Instruments such as micrometers, voltmeters, and other UL-supplied equipment are used to perform inspections and meet UL requirements. Confirmation of proper calibration of manufacturers' measuring equipment and potential calibration of UL-supplied equipment are also part of the role. Examination, variations, and test results are documented on appropriate UL forms. Good computer skills are necessary, and adherence to the UL Solutions Code of Conduct and all physical and digital security practices is required. Other duties may be directed.
