About The Position

The Fermentation Blank Sterile Operator’s role is to ensure all contaminants are removed from the tanks and systems.

Requirements

• Ability to participate in a high performance team-based environment that is fast-learning and adaptive

• Willing to cross-train into other areas; ensure conformance to standard work by following the process; communicate any issues to the appropriate resources in a timely manner

• Critical thinking, multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work rotating 12 hour shifts
• Ability to remain in a stationary position up to 60 % of shift
• Ability to move about the inside of the building to get to tanks and calibrate probes
• Ability to ascend/descend stairs to get to lab and to take samples onsite
• Ability to ascend/descent a ladder in order to inspect tanks
• Ability to position self to collect samples from collecting locations and inspect tanks several times throughout shift
• Hot/cold environment, depending on location of fermentation building
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment for testing. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit in of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing
• High School Diploma/GED
• Industrial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate control panel
• Monitor machinery to ensure levels of tanks and operation is within normal parameter
• Enter and maintain data records
• Inspect and sterilize tanks and systems before media is transferred
• Calibrate pH probes
• Perform and monitor the CIP (Clean In Place) with DCS (Diluted Caustic Soda)
• Perform other duties as assigned.
