About The Position

Position Summary: The Communication Operator works under the direct supervision of the Patient Registration Supervisor. The operator is responsible fo rthe timely answering of the incoming telephone calls and proper routing of telephone communications. The operator shall be courteous with all patients, staff and visitors and work in a cooperative manner to fulfill the goals of the department and hospital.

Requirements

  • Good typing and spelling skills
  • Prior Customer Service experience
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Nice To Haves

  • Previous switchboard operator experience
  • Knowledge of Health Care industry/Insurance contracts
  • Computer Skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
