About The Position

This role is primarily responsible for supporting and overseeing the preparation of Federal Electric Regulatory Commission (FERC) financial statements in conformance with FERC guidelines. This includes converting Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) financial statements to FERC financial statements. The specialist will work closely with the Financial Research and Reporting Group, which is responsible for reporting financial information in conformity with GAAP, SEC, and FERC. Other responsibilities include assisting in preparing and filing reports in accordance with the SEC, researching and tracking GAAP to FERC differences for reporting purposes, and researching the potential impact on financial statements and disclosures of new GAAP accounting, SEC, and FERC standards/regulations. The role ensures FERC financial statements are properly produced and filed, and provides technical and oversight directions to the corporate accounting team. Additionally, the specialist will prepare written analyses and conclusions of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for audit purposes, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and journal entries. The position requires a collaborative disposition and effective communication skills within the accounting department and across the organization.

Requirements

  • Experience with Federal Electric Regulatory Commission (FERC) financial statements.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting.
