About The Position

The FEMA-Badged Emergency Management Professional will support disaster response, emergency management, recovery operations, and resiliency initiatives for federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial agencies. This role provides operational, technical, administrative, and programmatic support during emergency incidents, disaster declarations, recovery missions, and infrastructure restoration activities. Personnel serving in this capacity may support field operations, damage assessments, recovery program implementation, interagency coordination, emergency management planning, public assistance activities, community recovery efforts, and disaster response operations. The position requires the ability to operate effectively in rapidly changing environments while supporting mission objectives and maintaining compliance with applicable federal policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Active FEMA badge and eligibility to support FEMA disaster operations.
  • Professional experience supporting emergency management, disaster response, disaster recovery, infrastructure recovery, public assistance, hazard mitigation, community recovery, or related federal programs.
  • Ability to deploy to disaster-affected areas and support field operations as required.
  • Knowledge of emergency management principles, disaster recovery processes, and federal response frameworks.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams under time-sensitive operational conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain documentation, prepare reports, and support operational coordination activities.
  • Experience supporting emergency management, disaster response, or disaster recovery operations in federal, state, or local government environments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for coordinating with multiple stakeholders and supporting mission-critical activities under demanding conditions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to changing operational requirements, work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, and maintain accurate documentation while supporting response and recovery missions.
  • The ability to deploy, operate in field environments, and support a variety of disaster-related functions is essential for successful performance in support of federal emergency management operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting FEMA, USACE, DHS, state emergency management agencies, or other federal response organizations.
  • FEMA Independent Study (IS) coursework and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training.
  • Experience supporting Public Assistance (PA), Individual Assistance (IA), Hazard Mitigation (HM), Environmental and Historic Preservation (EHP), Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA), Planning, Logistics, Operations, or Recovery functions.
  • Knowledge of the National Response Framework (NRF) and Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Experience supporting federally funded disaster recovery and resiliency programs.
  • Active security clearance or previous federal credentialing experience.
  • Knowledge of FEMA programs, National Incident Management System (NIMS) principles, Incident Command System (ICS) structures, and federal disaster recovery processes is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support disaster response, emergency management, and recovery operations in accordance with FEMA and federal agency requirements.
  • Assist with field assessments, damage evaluations, documentation reviews, and operational support activities.
  • Coordinate with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and nongovernmental stakeholders during disaster operations.
  • Support mission assignments, emergency operations centers, recovery offices, disaster recovery centers, and field deployments as required.
  • Maintain operational records, reports, assessments, and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in planning meetings, coordination activities, and recovery program implementation efforts.
  • Support compliance with applicable federal policies, procedures, and emergency management requirements.
  • Assist with public outreach, stakeholder engagement, and disaster recovery support activities as assigned.
  • Provide technical, administrative, or operational support based on mission requirements and assigned qualifications.
