About The Position

Opportunity for religious professionals to develop specialized competence and decision-making in focused areas of healthcare ministry including palliative care, ethics, pediatrics, behavioral health, community engagement, leadership and trauma. Called upon during emergencies, crises, and moral distress situations. Offers care and support by conducting spiritual/emotional assessments and uses interventions to develop a spiritual care plan for patients, families, and staff to ensure continuity of care. Collaborates with key stakeholders in clinical settings and aids in the preparation of the materials required for board certification. Provides pastoral care, leads, and trains in assigned areas through shift rotations. Participates in self-directed and group learning processes.

Requirements

  • Ordination or equivalent is required.
  • Affiliation in a religious/faith community is required.
  • Quality patient care, communication and crisis intervention skills are required.
  • Knowledge of the action/reflection model of Clinical Pastoral Education is required.
  • Knowledge in fields of theology and ethics in health care and behavioral sciences is required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must be Chaplain Research Literate.
  • Masters of Divinity, Masters of Theology, or equivalent theological degree is required.
  • Successful completion of a Clinical Pastoral Education Residency (total of 4 Level I and Level II units) in a center accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. is required.
