About The Position

The Superintendent will lead the day-to-day operations of a critical corn wet milling department responsible for dewatering, drying, grinding, sizing, and pelleting of germ, fiber, and gluten co-products. This role is accountable for safety, environmental compliance, product quality, operational reliability, cost performance, and workforce leadership with a direct impact on plant profitability. The Superintendent serves as a member of the plant leadership team and partners closely with commercial, maintenance, and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership and team development skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of corn wet milling processes and equipment.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments including extended walking, climbing, and variable temperatures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering preferred), or equivalent experience in a relevant continuous process manufacturing environment will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 7 years in production leadership.
  • Experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading teams in an industrial setting.

  • Experience in corn wet milling or similar food or ingredient processing.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven success improving reliability and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company safety requirements, including process safety management.
  • Lead 24/7 operations of feedhouse processes including dewatering, drying, grinding, cooling, conveying, and pelleting.
  • Own and deliver measurable performance against KPIs including safety, quality, cost, production, energy conservation, sustainability, and reliability.
  • Lead, develop, and manage a unionized workforce of employees including hourly and salaried team members while ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies to improve asset reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to improve OEE and cost performance
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to align production responsiveness
  • Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and environmental standards.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to drive engagement and accountability.
