About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Feeder on the 2nd shift. The role involves ensuring the press operator has a complete understanding of job specifications, verifying raw material accuracy, preparing and loading stock, and monitoring materials used on the press. The Feeder is responsible for alerting the press operator to any quality issues or potential problems during a run, re-stocking and preparing materials for the next shift, and relaying accurate information about ongoing jobs. This role also includes assisting the press operator in washing the press, entering information into the Hagen system, following procedures, completing documentation, performing and documenting scheduled maintenance, and ensuring the press is well-maintained and clean. Additionally, the Feeder is responsible for cleaning ink cans, maintaining the cleanliness of the chemical room, filling out project information sheets, and ensuring the quality of stock going into the press. Other duties may be requested, directed, and assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School education or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a sheet fed printing facility
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of all kinds of stock, & what to look for on printed sheet
  • Ability to throw smooth, even loads.
  • Must possess skills in troubleshooting & setting up a feed board
  • Must possess working knowledge of pressroom operations, workflow, equipment, materials, and products.
  • Must possess good organization skills & attention to detail
  • Must be able to work well with others, as well as work independently
  • Required to read and write, follow verbal instructions and use simple math

Responsibilities

  • Reviews job ticket & discuss job specifications with Press Operator to ensure complete understanding.
  • Verifies accuracy of raw material.
  • Prepares and load stock.
  • Monitor all material being used on the press (ink, waters, coating, etc.).
  • Alerts press operator of any quality issues or potential problems of any kind during a run.
  • Re-stocks & prepares materials for next shift.
  • Relay complete accurate information to next shift on jobs scheduled & in progress.
  • Assists Press operator in washing press.
  • Enters complete, accurate, timely information into Hagen system.
  • Carefully review Hagen sheets, make necessary corrections, & submit at the end of shift.
  • Follows all specified procedures & complete all required documentation.
  • Performs & document all scheduled maintenance.
  • Ensure press is well maintained on a daily basis, & press is neat and clean.
  • Cleans empty ink cans and maintain the cleanliness of the chemical room.
  • Fill out project information sheet for each job.
  • Responsible for the quality of stock going into the press.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed and assigned.
