Feed Truck Driver
About The Position
Transports and delivers finished feed to cattle daily by operating a feed truck to distribute a pre-determined quantity of feed to cattle daily. This role involves following yard-specific guidelines regarding accuracy, distribution, and timeliness, and using a laptop device to communicate loads and pens assigned. The driver must recognize different feed rations, correct mistakes by shoveling over-fed quantities back onto the truck, notify the manager of misfeeds, and clean up spills. Additionally, the role includes cleaning bunks according to yard specifications, performing truck servicing and inspection, and maintaining a clean truck. Compliance with all applicable safety rules and policies is required.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure
- Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent
Responsibilities
- Operates a feed truck to distribute a pre-determined quantity of feed to cattle daily.
- Follows yard-specific guidelines regarding accuracy, distribution, and timeliness.
- Uses a laptop device to communicate loads and pens assigned.
- Recognizes different feed rations.
- Corrects mistakes by shoveling over-fed quantities back onto the truck, notifying the manager of misfeeds, and cleaning up spills.
- Cleans bunks out according to yard specifications, including regular removal of mold, rocks, manure, etc.
- Minimizes truck downtime by performing truck servicing and inspection according to schedule.
- Maintains a clean truck by cleaning out trash, wiping out, and washing according to schedule.
- Complies with all applicable safety rules and policies.
