About The Position

The Feed Mill Supervisor oversees daily feed mill operations to ensure efficient production of high-quality poultry feed. The role manages and trains staff, supports compliance with safety, regulatory, biosecurity, and sanitation standards, oversees equipment and maintenance, and optimizes processes to meet production goals. The supervisor works with quality assurance, maintenance, and live production teams to ensure proper feed formulation and distribution. The position requires working in a feed mill environment that may involve dust, noise, and varying temperatures. The successful candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation. The candidate must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain domestic, wild, or exotic fowl and must sign a biosecurity agreement. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience in feed mill operations or a similar production environment.
Strong knowledge of feed formulation, processing, and quality control.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for animal feed production.
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for feed mill equipment.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
Ability to work in a feed mill environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts as needed.
Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild, or exotic fowl and must sign a biosecurity agreement.

Nice To Haves

An associate or bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal science, feed manufacturing, or a related field.
Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
Experience working in poultry or livestock feed production.
Knowledge of safety and environmental compliance in feed milling.
Ability to operate and adjust automated feed mill equipment.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate feed mill operations to ensure efficient feed production.
Monitor ingredient mixing, grinding, and pelletizing to maintain feed quality standards.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and inventory management of raw materials and finished feed.
Manage and train feed mill operators and production staff, assign daily tasks, and monitor employee performance.
Promote safety, efficiency, and teamwork within the feed mill.
Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, company feed safety protocols, biosecurity, and sanitation requirements.
Oversee sampling and testing of feed ingredients to ensure quality and nutritional accuracy.
Coordinate with maintenance to ensure machinery and equipment function properly; schedule routine maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
Identify and recommend equipment upgrades to improve efficiency.
Monitor raw material and feed inventory levels and coordinate feed deliveries with live production teams.
Optimize storage and handling procedures to reduce waste and contamination risks.
Ensure employees follow safety procedures and wear required protective equipment; conduct safety training and implement accident-prevention practices.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to feed production and waste management.
Maintain accurate records of production data, ingredient usage, and maintenance activities.
Analyze operational metrics, identify process improvements, and implement strategies to reduce costs while maintaining feed quality.
