About The Position

The Feed Mill Operations/Delivery position is responsible for supporting general operational activities related to working in a feed mill and warehouse, and proper delivery of products. Additional responsibilities include following safety procedures, accurate recordkeeping, professional and effective communication with teammates and customers, and the delivery of excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Basic mathematical skills are required for this role including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numerical values.
  • Must possess some basic computer operation skills.
  • Apply basic understanding as it relates to conducting instructions whether written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to juggle problems that may include multiple variables and unique/complex situations.
  • Have the capability of thinking quickly, assessing hazards, using necessary precautions, selecting appropriate PPE as required by specific needs, regulations, or labels.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a safe driving record
  • Forklift Certification, or the ability to obtain.
  • Must be 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in loading and unloading vendor and customer products (bulk and packaged), inventory stocking, feed bagging, basic housekeeping, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Accurate tracking of inventory via anticipated manufacturing/sales and anticipated receipts of products. Placing orders with vendors for future product needs is included in this daily job activity.
  • Assists customers with sales, checkout and promoting products.
  • Delivers bulk feed as needed.
  • Responsible for all feed production, processing and mixing drugs.
  • Conducts facility inspections and ensures good quality feed/grain, monitors bin temperature and moisture and performs preventive maintenance.
  • Performs elevator operations duties as needed based on seasonal demands.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all state and federal regulations pertaining to a safe workplace, housekeeping, and all activities that require regulatory compliance within the facility.
  • Assists with the outside maintenance and upkeep of general cooperative facilities – including mowing, painting, etc.
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees, and management.
  • Maintains a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the cooperative.
  • Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations, responds promptly to customer needs, resolves questions, complaints, and concerns immediately, and meets commitments.
  • Presents a clean and professional appearance.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule including days of the week, shifts, and hours per week (including overtime and/or on-call as needed).
  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance.
