About The Position

Mechanical repairs, maintenance & PM's to equipment and installation of new equipment is the core responsibility of a maintenance person. Due to the combustible nature of grain dust, it is imperative that all electrical pneumatic, and mechanical equipment be maintained to eliminate the chance of bearings, rollers, fixtures, and any potential heat producing item from becoming an ignition source. Preventative measures include proper greasing and monitoring of equipment on a regular basis as predetermined by the feed mill maintenance schedule. Chains, sprockets, shafts, hydraulic equipment, sheaves and couplings are just a few of the areas that require service on a regular basis. Housekeeping is vital and has to be maintained on a daily basis in the mill.

Requirements

  • Reliable
  • Willing to work at a busy feed mill
  • One month rotating shift
  • Mechanically minded
  • Self-motivated
  • Can work unsupervised
  • General knowledge of tools and be able to use them
  • Preventative maintenance as well as general repairs is necessary to maintain equipment
  • Physically able to carry tools when climbing stairs and ladders, lift at least 50 lbs., be able to crouch, twist, bend, push, and lift
  • Cannot be afraid of heights due to walking on catwalks and climbing ladders
  • Willingness and ability to be trained, to learn new things
  • Wear PPE provided
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and temperatures
