About The Position

Smithfield is seeking a Feed Mill Maintenance Tech to oversee all aspects of maintenance and repairs of machinery and mechanical equipment within the feed mill. This role involves conducting daily maintenance, troubleshooting issues, developing preventative maintenance programs, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial maintenance and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

High school diploma
1 year of successful industrial maintenance experience
Ability to perform troubleshooting, repair, and assembly of any feed mill equipment
Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical issues including solid-state circuitry, 110 v control circuits, lighting circuits, VFD and soft-start drives, and 3 phase circuitry
Ability to read and speak English
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
Experience in pneumatic systems including compressors, cylinders, and solenoid valve troubleshooting and maintenance
Experience in liquid systems including positive displacement pumps (rebuilding), metering system calibration, automatic valves, and plumbing
Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment

Responsibilities

Conduct daily maintenance work activities in assigned equipment areas and set up additional work maintenance schedules.
Follow standard operating maintenance instructions/procedures for replacing, adjusting, and installing feed mill equipment.
Maintain awareness of maintenance problems and develop strategies to correct them and prevent future issues or reduce unscheduled downtime.
Develop and improve a cost-effective Preventative Maintenance Program.
Develop and communicate parts replacement or repair guidelines.
Promote an active Safety Awareness Program and maintain clean housekeeping practices.
Monitor and maintain all feed mill equipment.
Ensure all procedures are properly followed during repairs.
Comply with all environmental laws and procedures.
Establish or adjust maintenance work procedures and schedules to meet production schedules.
Maintain shift maintenance activities report and track maintenance records using the Methods system, including preventative maintenance, weekly maintenance, and parts replacement.
Manage critical parts inventory based on usage and maintenance activity needs.
Perform housekeeping duties as requested.
Maintain and ensure the safety of all employees and assets.
Acquire and maintain necessary certifications (fork lift, LOTO, Confined space, etc.) for responsible maintenance employees.
Understand and comply with company EMS policies and procedures.
Report all environmental issues and food safety concerns immediately to the mill manager.
Understand and comply with the company’s emergency notification process.
