About The Position

The Feed Mill Assistant Manager will supervise and coordinate the approval of new chemicals by furnishing labels, SDS sheets, and product request forms for chemical evaluation. This role provides leadership, development, and supervision for clerical, dispatch, feed mill, and delivery employees. The Assistant Manager will monitor and manage ingredient receiving, ingredient and feed inventories, and feed manufacturing processes, along with associated quality control programs. Daily communication with staff is essential to ensure production and delivery schedules are met, and to establish plans for efficient and effective ongoing feed manufacturing and delivery processes. The position involves planning and executing preventive maintenance programs, ensuring the safety and security of company assets and inventory, and adhering to all safety protocols while advocating for a safe work environment. Participation in the Safety Committee and conducting monthly department safety meetings are key responsibilities. The Assistant Manager will ensure staff are trained to perform duties safely and efficiently, and will be responsible for mill cleanliness, appearance, and ground maintenance. A thorough understanding of all automation & mechanical equipment and manufacturing processes is required. The role involves preparing reports on ingredients, manufacturing, inventory, and usage, and offering and implementing plans to improve efficiency and control costs. The Assistant Manager will assist in the preparation of annual budgets, input changes to feed formulas, and schedule staff while managing employee time off requests. Maintaining a good quality control program through accurate sampling procedures, keeping accurate records on mill production and delivery, and monitoring cost records and performance data to analyze the effectiveness of milling and delivery practices are also crucial. Directing quality maintenance programs for equipment and vehicles, coordinating raw material delivery, and complying with all DOT safety rules and regulations, company policies, and local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations are required. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous exposure to Live Production operations is preferred.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and a solid understanding of safety protocols are essential.
  • Prior Experience in Feed Mill Operations is a must, candidate will have at least 2 years of management experience at a Feed Mill Operations, preferably in Poultry.
  • Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of low cost, high efficiency manufacturing, delivery, and maintenance processes.
  • Ability to manage and act in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have the ability to adapt time and efforts to priority areas.
  • Display a high level of professionalism and a customer service mindset.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to operations, dispatch, and trucking staff.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Use teamwork to promote excellence.
  • Must maintain high degree of accessibility to staff and customers.
