About The Position

The Federal Tax Associate works with large and small companies across various industries, building client relationships by understanding their businesses and challenges. Associates contribute to multiple team engagements each year and work on several components of assignments in a mutually respectful team environment. The role focuses on federal tax specialty areas and includes tax planning, research, return preparation, and applying tax regulations and accounting pronouncements. The position requires travel to assigned client locations and access to reliable transportation. Most roles at RSM follow a hybrid workstyle, with employees aligned to an RSM office and meeting in person as appropriate for clients, teams, development, or relationship-building.

Requirements

Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
Accounting major.
Access to and ability to arrange reliable transportation to assigned client locations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to work effectively on a team.
Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
Working toward successful completion of the CPA exam; tax associates have the opportunity to obtain the audit hours required for full certification.

Responsibilities

Work on teams covering tax specialty areas such as accounting for income taxes, accounting methods and periods, corporate taxation, federal credits and incentives, individual taxation, mergers and acquisitions, pass-through entity taxation, private client services, and not-for-profit organizations.
Complete tax planning and research.
Prepare federal and state and local tax returns.
Understand tax regulations and accounting pronouncements.
Travel to assigned client locations.
