About The Position

Motorola Solutions is a world leader in professional mobile communications systems, with a strong heritage of innovation and a global presence. The group focuses on implementing mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for Federal Civil & Law Enforcement Communications customers. This is a remote position for candidates residing in the continental U.S., requiring 25%–50% travel to support projects. The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the implementation of Communication System Projects and will serve as the leader and focal point for all aspects of assigned projects. The role demands delivering contractual scope on schedule and within budget while maintaining customer satisfaction. The PM must utilize project management tools to analyze complex issues and develop resolutions. Responsibilities include allocating resources to meet project objectives, corporate financial goals, and customer satisfaction targets. The project manager will communicate directly with the customer's organization and relevant internal senior stakeholders through project reviews and is responsible for the overall financial health of all projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years of project/program management or similar business experience, OR 10+ years of project/program management or similar business experience.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: Public Safety communications systems, Cellular infrastructure, Military communications, Civil construction, Logistics, Telecommunications, or IT Networks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint & Project).
  • Understanding of two way radio/cellular infrastructure communications products, services, and systems.
  • Must be a self-motivated team player able to work effectively with general guidance toward objectives.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.

Nice To Haves

  • PM Masters Certificate a plus.
  • PMP highly desired.
  • PMP and/or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).

Responsibilities

  • Leads large projects or portions of very complex projects.
  • Directs and coordinates the work activities of project team.
  • Demonstrates a firm understanding of all nine areas of PMBOK project management and has expertise in two areas.
  • Experienced in running project phases.
  • Able to oversee the development of the complete project plan.
  • Able to establish, track, and audit project budgets, analyze variances, and develop action plans as required.
  • Represents the organization on projects and may perform in a project leadership role.
  • Accountable for accomplishing the stated project objectives within the stipulated time period and budget.
  • Ensures that the three constraints (quality, cost, and time) that face every project are properly managed.
