About The Position

The Federal Business Development Manager plays a critical role in driving the growth and expansion of our organization within the federal government sector. This position is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities by building strong relationships with federal agencies and key stakeholders. The successful candidate will lead strategic initiatives to align our offerings with government needs, ensuring compliance with federal procurement regulations and policies. They will collaborate closely with internal teams to develop competitive proposals and deliver tailored solutions that meet client requirements. Ultimately, this role is pivotal in increasing our market share and establishing long-term partnerships within the federal marketplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in federal business development or government contracting.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing federal government contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and government procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess market opportunities and develop strategic approaches tailored to federal clients.
  • Negotiation skills are applied daily to secure favorable contract terms and navigate complex procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations ensures compliance and mitigates risks throughout the business development lifecycle.
  • Project management and organizational skills enable the manager to coordinate multiple proposals and initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with multiple federal agencies such as DoD, DHS, or GSA.
  • Possession of a security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with government contract vehicles such as GSA Schedules, IDIQs, and BPAs.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within federal government agencies by conducting market research and networking.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with federal clients, partners, and industry stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of proposals, bids, and contract negotiations in compliance with federal acquisition regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including capture, technical, and legal to develop winning strategies and solutions tailored to federal requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze federal procurement trends, policies, and competitor activities to inform business development strategies.
  • Represent the company at industry events, government conferences, and networking functions to enhance visibility and credibility.
  • Track and report on business development activities, pipeline status, and revenue forecasts to senior management.
