The FCO Operator sets up, operates, and maintains equipment used for inspection and finishing of fuel components. This includes computer-based automatic inspection systems that perform barcoding, eddy current, ultrasonic, and dimensional inspections, as well as electro-mechanical equipment for processes such as heat treatment, straightening, polishing, and cut-to-length processing. Operators act as team or area leaders at their operations, work with little or no supervision, and train new or lower-rated operators. They are responsible for understanding and assuring product quality, interpreting inspection results and process records, maintaining material traceability, and segregating nonconforming products. The role is performed indoors in a factory, generally standing with moderate walking, and involves equipment setup, material handling, visual inspection, and adherence to established safety practices. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, mechanical equipment setup experience, and at least one qualifying background in ultrasonic testing, automated welding setup and operation, or machine operation. Candidates must pass vision and written certification tests and be able to become crane certified. The role may involve overtime, unusual hours, or short-notice and split shifts to meet business needs.
