About The Position

Buckner Children and Family Services is seeking a Fatherhood EFFECT Specialist/Case Manager to join their Fatherhood EFFECT Program (Educating Fathers For Empowering Children Tomorrow) in Beaumont, TX. This role involves delivering services based on the 24/7 Dad model, including coaching, fatherhood support groups, and individual sessions to eligible clients. The Specialist will provide fathers with knowledge, attitudes, skills, and information regarding custodial/non-custodial fathers, positively present the program to the local community, and serve as a resource for program collaboration.

Requirements

  • Requires a basic understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge normally associated with the attainment of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social services or other related field required.
  • Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner’s insurance policy.
  • Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
  • Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in education, child health and development, child abuse or neglect, and/or parent education preferred.
  • Prefer work experience specifically related to education and tools related to fatherhood.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience using community resources preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with in-home visitation and facilitating support groups preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and engage fathers to receive services and determine father eligibility.
  • Ensure compliance to Fatherhood Effect contract as well as fidelity to 24/7 Dad.
  • Coordinate group as prescribed in the program for the purpose of observing and providing information to fathers or father figures.
  • Deliver approved program curriculum which includes discipline, communication, working with mom and co-parenting, showing and handling feelings, workforce readiness, and rights and responsibilities for custodial/non-custodial dads.
  • Provide resource and referral services linking families with community resources and support systems.
  • Utilizing 24/7 Dad curriculum, conduct fatherhood education during a 6-session workshop series (one series every six months) while ensuring fidelity to the model is always maintained.
  • Establish appropriate relationships with fathers that are based on equality and respect.
  • Work with the fathers to build on the father’s strengths to affect needed change.
  • Model appropriate adult/child interactions to fathers.
  • Represent Buckner at community events that include but are not limited to conferences, informational meetings, advisory board meetings, and client recruitment events.
