About The Position

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Operates the cash register accurately, scans products, and handles various payment methods. Ensures the cleanliness and organization of the store, including the pumps, and manages supply needs. This role is crucial in upholding Hy-Vee's commitment to a "helpful smile in every aisle" by ensuring a positive customer experience.

Requirements

Must be 18+ years old.
Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
Ability to interpret instructions.
Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to file, post, and mail materials.
Ability to copy data from one record to another.
Ability to interview to obtain basic information.
Ability to guide people and provide basic direction.
Ability to physically perform medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work with exposure to temperature extremes and dampness.
Must be able to work with possible equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents.
Must be able to handle daily contact with customers, co-workers, suppliers/vendors, and the general public.

Responsibilities

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
Operates cash register accurately and scans product.
Handles promotional coupons, food stamps, cash, checks, and credit-card transactions.
Ensures cleanliness of the store, including registers, restrooms, break room, backroom, and floors.
Maintains the cleanliness and supplies at the gas pumps, including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and replenishing window washer fluid.
Receives and checks in delivered merchandise, places it in storage, and fills displays/stocks shelves.
Removes trash inside and outside the store in a timely manner.
Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures.
Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
Orders merchandise and supplies as needed.
Prices products for customers as necessary.
Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
