About The Position

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Operates the cash register accurately, scans products, and handles transactions. Ensures the cleanliness of the store, maintains product quality and quantity, and manages supply needs within the store and at the pumps. This role is crucial for upholding Hy-Vee's promise of 'a helpful smile in every aisle' by supporting customers and colleagues.

Requirements

Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.

Responsibilities

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience.
Greets customers with a smile and learns their names whenever possible.
Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and relaying suggestions.
Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service.
Works collaboratively with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
Operates the cash register accurately, scans products, and manages cash drawer levels.
Handles various payment methods including cash, checks, credit card charges, and in-store charges.
Redeems promotional coupons and food stamps.
Places merchandise in bags or boxes and provides them to customers.
Assists with inventory of the department.
Receives and checks in delivered merchandise and stores it appropriately.
Fills displays and stocks shelves.
Maintains the exterior lot, including shoveling sidewalks, spreading ice melt, and cleaning the lot.
Fills outside towel holders and replenishes window washer fluid.
Removes trash from inside and outside the store in a timely manner.
Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices.
Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures.
Cleans various areas including registers, restrooms, break rooms, and backrooms.
Sweeps and mops floors.
Tends to supply needs for the store.
Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines for personal hygiene and dress.
Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.
Reports to work on time and when scheduled.
Orders merchandise and supplies as needed.
Prices products for customers as necessary.
Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
