About The Position

Penn State is searching for a full time Fast Food Worker - Grade 9 to join the team. Duties include taking orders, dispensing products, suggesting products to customers, positioning and checking required utensils, equipment, signage, and food products according to menu standards, setting up, operating, and closing out the register, preparing items for sale, attending specialized off-site trainings, ensuring customer service meets or exceeds departmental standards, setting up, opening, operating, and closing the unit, operating various equipment, maintaining a clean work and dining area, checking stock of food and supplies, transferring, receiving, storing, rotating and inventorying food supplies, notifying management of shortages or problems, training and directing part-time employees, and reporting maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data.
  • 3 to 6 months of effective experience.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Take orders from customers and dispense products following portion control, timing of products and temperature guidelines
  • Suggest certain products to customer to help with sales mix and increase sales
  • Position and check required utensils, equipment, signage, and food products according to the in-house and branded concept menu standards
  • Set up, operate, and close out register
  • Place money in safe and make change as needed
  • Prepare items for sale following established procedures and specifications detailed by in-house and branded concept standards
  • Attend specialized off-site trainings that may be required for work in branded concept units
  • Ensure customer service in unit meets or exceeds departmental standards
  • Set up, open, operate, and close unit according to policies, guidelines, and procedures set by the individual unit
  • Operate various equipment such as broiler, grills, fryers, beverage machines, microwave ovens, bun toasters, slicers
  • Maintain work area and dining area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Check stock of food and supplies
  • Transfer, receive, store, rotate and inventory food supplies
  • Notify management of any shortages or problems concerning food and supplies
  • Train and direct work of part-time employees in the various phases of the operation
  • Notify management of any problems
  • Maintain proper uniform
  • Ensure part-time employees are following proper dress code
  • Report maintenance needs to management
