About The Position

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Operates the cash register accurately, scans products, and handles various payment methods. Ensures the cleanliness and quality of store products, and manages supply needs within the store and at the gas pumps. This role is crucial in upholding Hy-Vee's commitment to 'a helpful smile in every aisle' by ensuring a positive customer experience.

Requirements

Must be 18+ years old.
Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
Ability to interpret instructions.
Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to file, post, and mail materials.
Ability to copy data from one record to another.
Ability to interview to obtain basic information.
Ability to guide people and provide basic direction.
No specific education or experience requirements.
Must be able to physically perform medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
Operates cash register accurately and scans product.
Handles cash, checks, credit-card transactions, and figures discounts.
Redeems promotional coupons and food stamps.
Ensures cleanliness of the store, including registers, restrooms, break room, and backroom.
Maintains the quality and quantity of products.
Tends to supply needs in the store and at the pumps.
Assists with inventory of the department.
Receives and checks in delivered merchandise and places it in the appropriate storage area.
Fills displays and stocks shelves.
Maintains the exterior lot, including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and hosing down the lot.
Fills outside towel holders and replenishes window washer fluid.
Removes trash inside and out in a timely manner.
Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices.
Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures.
Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
Orders merchandise and supplies as needed.
Prices products for customers as necessary.
Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
