About The Position

Holy Trinity School (HTS) is seeking an individual with expertise in fashion design to support students (ages 12-18) in the HTS Fashion Forward Program. This program allows students in grades 6-12 to design and create garments through sketching, fabric selection, draping on dress forms, and using sewing machines and sergers. Students also learn to use design tech tools like laser cutters. The role involves supporting students in their creative process, from initial inspiration to final garment construction. The position is located at HTS in Richmond Hill, with ideal hours of 3-5 pm on weekdays, though some flexibility is available. The program runs from October 2026 to June 2027, with potential for summer programming in July.

Requirements

  • Expertise and training in the world of fashion design.
  • Ability to guide students from raw inspiration to cohesive design of a garment.
  • Ability to translate 2D sketches into 3D garments through the use of patterns, muslin draping on dress forms, and fit correction.
  • Proficiency in sewing machinery, simple tailoring, and diverse finishing techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of fiber behavior, fabric weights, grainlines, and sourcing.
  • Fluency in Adobe Illustrator and other fashion industry software.
  • Willingness to learn how to use equipment like the laser cutter and 3D printers to supplement the student work.
  • Some experience in supporting and understanding how age 11 - 18 year old students learn and need to be supported in the creative process.

Responsibilities
