About The Position

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a remote Video-Phone Interpreter for Farsi speakers. This role involves interpreting conversations between Farsi and English speakers across various industries such as healthcare, 911, first responders, education, government agencies, and general business. The company provides industry-leading training, opportunities for advancement, and operates in a certified ASTM and ISO environment. Interpreters are supported by a Senior Language Specialist and Help Desks.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Farsi and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
  • Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
  • Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
  • Ability to concentrate, stay detached, remain neutral and objective.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write the requested languages – highly preferred.
  • Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
  • Desktop / Laptop Computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS, or Tablets (iPadOS or Android), or Smartphones (iOS or Android).
  • Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware.
  • High speed Internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, Ping value of no more than 300 ms, Jitter value of no more than 30 ms.
  • Must have access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
  • Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain in a stationary position in front of a computer and webcam the majority of the workday.
  • Must use a headset for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to operate company provided software and systems.
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
  • Able to lift up to 26 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to any LLS technology enhancements that improve service delivery and meet client demands.

Responsibilities

  • Handle calls on demand and render the meaning of conversations between Farsi and English speakers.
  • Break communication barriers in industries including Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.
  • Process information quickly and concisely, recognizing sensitive cultural differences.
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times, using appropriate terminology and understanding common industry procedures.
  • Translate verbally in video and audio interpreting sessions, which may involve technical or non-technical subjects.
  • Respond to video and audio interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
  • Deliver interpretation services via video and expediently type data on a dedicated device.
  • Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
  • Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor throughout video and audio interpreting sessions.
  • Remain calm during sessions, especially in emergency situations.
  • Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
  • Follow client instructions in compliance with protocol.
  • Understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
  • Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
  • Remain on calls for extended periods without breaks if necessary.
  • Provide company standards of service within a dynamic environment.
