About The Position

This temporary farm worker position supports poultry operations at the Tennessee Pedigree Complex in Deer Lodge, Tennessee. The posting includes duties for grow-out, pedigree, and poultry farm work, including caring for birds, maintaining poultry houses, handling eggs, and cleaning and disinfecting facilities and equipment. The listed schedules vary by assignment and may include work on holidays; schedules are subject to change based on production needs. The job is performed in a biosecure environment. Team members must shower and change clothing and footwear before entering the facility, follow company biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines, and agree to avoid owning or contact with avian species as specified for the assignment. Company-provided clothing and footwear are provided. The role involves physical work in varied conditions, including wet, slippery, dusty, hot, and cold environments, and requires compliance with applicable safety procedures.

Requirements

At least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gap greater than 6 months in the past 36 months, subject to stated exceptions for layoffs or caregiving and consecutive full-time students.
Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must follow company biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines and, where required, sign an agreement to avoid owning or contact with avian species.
Must follow applicable safety policies and procedures and identify, address, and mitigate safety risks.
Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds; some assignments may require occasional lifting or moving of loads up to 2,000 pounds with tools or equipment.
Must be able to perform duties involving prolonged standing and walking, bending or stooping, reaching, balancing, climbing or ladder use, and driving within the farm complex, as applicable to the assignment.
Must communicate opinions and concerns accurately.

Responsibilities

Feed and water birds according to schedules; inspect birds and water lines, and identify, collect, and dispose of mortality as appropriate.
Move birds between farm locations and place them in designated pens; pull a trailer with a farm vehicle when required.
Calculate pen sizes and arrange partitions, feeders, and water access to accommodate birds.
Maintain poultry house floors, shavings, ventilation, and general house conditions.
Sort birds by breast size, assist with bird processing tasks, and collect samples for laboratory testing.
Collect, inspect, identify, record, pack, and transfer eggs for incubation; remove substandard eggs as instructed.
Maintain house, work-area, equipment, vehicle, breakroom, boot-room, and storage-area cleanliness and sanitation.
Check and maintain equipment, partitions, and house infrastructure; report or repair deficiencies as assigned.
Weigh birds, record production and health information, administer supplements or medications as instructed, and isolate or euthanize birds in accordance with company policy.
Clean and disinfect poultry houses and equipment, remove used litter, and place new shavings.
Move birds as required and remove wingbands for birds leaving the farm.
Maintain tractors, pressure washers, litter trucks, trailers, and other mechanical equipment, including weekly and maintenance safety checks.
Perform farm groundskeeping, cleanup, and other assigned duties.
