Farm Research Technician
About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Dairy/CMR Technician. This permanent part-time role supports dairy production and calf management, helping ensure the health, productivity, and cleanliness of dairy operations. The position involves working with young calves and adult dairy animals. Employees will be required to be fitted for a half-mask respirator. Shifts alternate between 5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. The employee must be available every other weekend and every other holiday, and will receive the schedule two weeks in advance. The hourly wage is $18.81.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Availability to work every other weekend and every other holiday.
Nice To Haves
- Animal care experience, preferably with livestock.
Responsibilities
- Collect salable, high-quality milk from dairy cows accurately and carefully.
- Measure and record milk weights and collect required milk samples for analysis.
- Maintain stall beds, flush alleys, and help move cows safely and efficiently to and from the parlor.
- Feed and care for newborn calves, including preparing and delivering bottles.
- Monitor calf health and ensure optimal living conditions.
- Weigh calves and collect study measurements and data for research and herd management.
- Power wash and clean farm equipment, scrape lots, and perform other maintenance tasks as needed to support farm operations.
