About The Position

The Farm Operations Specialist serves as the daily operations support for Red Gate Farms, an affiliate of Southeastern Life Center and Southeastern Integrated Care. This position is responsible for coordinating daily farm activities related to visitor access, workforce accountability, participant check-in and check-out, operational logistics, safety monitoring, and administrative support. The Farm Operations Specialist helps maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming environment for employees, individuals participating in recovery workforce development, volunteers, vendors, contractors, community partners, and visitors. Working closely with the Farm Manager, this position supports the day-to-day operation of the farm while reinforcing accountability, professionalism, and meaningful employment opportunities for individuals participating in recovery services. This position plays an important role in supporting the mission of Red Gate Farms by helping cultivate stronger families, healthier communities, and brighter futures through sustainable agriculture and workforce development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in operations, agriculture, facilities, logistics, customer service, security, workforce supervision, behavioral health, or a related field required.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in all interactions.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with employees, participants, volunteers, visitors, and community partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when working with sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities throughout the day.
  • Ability to work independently while recognizing when to seek guidance or assistance.
  • Strong observational skills with the ability to identify safety concerns or operational issues and communicate them promptly.
  • Ability to de-escalate minor conflicts using calm, respectful communication and follow established reporting procedures.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and electronic recordkeeping systems.
  • Ability to accurately maintain attendance logs, visitor records, work-hour documentation, and operational reports.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and consistent attendance.
  • Reflects the mission, vision, and values of Southeastern Integrated Care, Southeastern Life Center, and Red Gate Farms.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver License required.
  • Acceptable driving record in accordance with Southeastern Integrated Care policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in agriculture, business administration, human services, criminal justice, operations management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a farm, nonprofit, educational, or workforce development environment preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals in recovery, behavioral health, or other vulnerable populations preferred.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers, visitors, contractors, or community groups is preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors, vendors, volunteers, contractors, and community partners arriving at the farm.
  • Maintain visitor check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Coordinate deliveries and notify appropriate staff upon arrival.
  • Open and secure designated facilities as assigned.
  • Conduct routine rounds throughout the property to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Report maintenance concerns, facility issues, and safety hazards to the Farm Manager.
  • Assist with general farm operational activities as assigned.
  • Check participants in and out of daily work assignments.
  • Verify attendance and assigned work locations.
  • Monitor participant movement throughout the workday.
  • Ensure individuals remain in assigned work areas unless otherwise authorized.
  • Maintain daily attendance records and work-hour documentation.
  • Assist with payroll reporting related to participant work hours.
  • Notify supervisors of attendance concerns, safety issues, or unusual incidents.
  • Reinforce workplace expectations, accountability, and professional behavior.
  • Welcome visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Verify appointments and purpose of visit.
  • Maintain visitor logs and access records.
  • Direct visitors to appropriate locations.
  • Coordinate parking and traffic flow during busy periods or special events.
  • Monitor facility access and ensure unauthorized individuals do not enter restricted areas.
  • Assist with facility security by ensuring gates, buildings, and designated areas are secured when appropriate.
  • Provide operational support during farm events, educational programs, and community activities.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown.
  • Coordinate volunteer sign-in and orientation procedures.
  • Assist with parking, visitor flow, and logistics during community events.
  • Work collaboratively with Southeastern Life Center staff to ensure successful community programming.
  • Maintain accurate operational records.
  • Prepare daily attendance and activity reports.
  • Maintain visitor and volunteer documentation.
  • Assist with scheduling deliveries and facility use.
  • Maintain equipment sign-out logs when applicable.
  • Complete incident reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
