About The Position

The manager and supervisors will determine the requirements of the position. Some of the functions which incumbents will be required to perform include repairing and maintaining fleet vehicles, farm equipment, electronic and computer command ignition systems, carburetor and fuel injection systems, air conditioning systems, drive train and hydraulic systems, and stationary irrigation units. This role also involves performing major overhauls on gas and diesel engines, heavy maintenance welding, electrical repairs and wiring, and troubleshooting system and equipment problems using diagnostic tools. The incumbent will need to understand and follow manufacturer's specifications, maintain shop work orders and service records, and actively update knowledge and skills through training. Competency with various tools and equipment is essential, as is the ability to operate vehicles and farm equipment for testing purposes. Maintaining a clean work area and adhering to all safety requirements are also key functions.

Requirements

  • Perform duties in all locations with occasional off property service calls.
  • Exposure to all temperature and weather extremes, moving equipment, loud noises, dust, cleaners, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, fuel, lubricants, paint, fertilizer, wetness, and walking on soft sand and hard, rough, uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in fast paced work environment.
  • Ability to distinguish color wiring.
  • Minimum vision standards, depth perception and adequate pulmonary function test.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of farm equipment, fleet vehicles, machinery, and stationary irrigation units in a grove/nursery environment.
  • Requires a valid CDL License with appropriate endorsements.
  • Requires current air-conditioning certification.

  • Competency with hand tools, power tools, welding torches, and shop equipment.
