About The Position

This position includes monitoring, enhancing, fixing, and replacing all things that are electrical and mechanical. This position may also include aiding in the operation of, and maintaining the feed mill that produces feed for our two million hens and our pellet mill operation that produces fertilizer from our hens’ manure.

Requirements

  • Intermediate English (60%)
  • Mexican, U.S. or Canadian Citizenship
  • Valid Passport
  • Bachelors degree

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair automated equipment in chicken barns such as egg conveyor belts, egg collection systems, manure belts, and feed and water lines.
  • Ensuring operation of feed and water lines in the layer hen barn, ensuring hens have proper water and feed levels
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance on this equipment
  • Operation and maintenance of our onsite feed mill or fertilizer mill
  • Operation and maintenance of corn dryer tanks that dry the corn that we grow
  • Operation of heavy machinery, assisting with the movement of equipment around the farm
  • Maintain a clean environment in all areas
  • Supervising and coordinating the personnel who perform daily work in the barns; including removing daily mortality from the barn, collecting mislaid eggs, ensuring proper function and cleanliness of egg collection and manure belt systems
  • Checking proper feed and water levels and operation of feed and water automated system. Recognition when levels are not adequate for the animals and ability to troubleshoot the automatic feed and water systems, including basic computer skills
  • Ensure cleanliness of the house, the ability to recognize and maintain a clean and healthy environment for the birds.
  • Recognize when the environment is appropriate for the hens and ability to operate and troubleshoot environmental control computers including basic computer skills
  • Ensure the flock is healthy and continuously looking for and properly attending to sick or injured birds, as well as mortality.
  • Examine birds to find illness or injury and may be responsible for treating minor injuries and ailments as well as contacting the company veterinarian and/or manager for treatment for birds with serious illnesses or injuries, aid in the treatment of birds as necessary.
  • Supervising and coordinating work crews that perform movement of birds from one barn to another
  • Aid and administer vaccinations and medications to birds.
