About The Position

This position supports all functions of dairy teaching, research, and Extension at the Krauss Dairy Research Facility. The Farm Coordinator 1 will provide general assistance in dairy animal care, including milking, feeding, breeding, manure handling, health care, record keeping, and general farm work. The role requires adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), standard management plans (SMPs), and compliance with IACUC animal care standards. Responsibilities include assisting with research trials such as digestion, metabolism, and mastitis, collecting samples, maintaining records, weighing cattle, and operating farm equipment. The position may require variable working hours and weekend work.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 0 years of relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides general assistance in dairy animal care such as milking, feeding, breeding, manure handling, health care, record keeping and general farm work.
  • Follows standard operation procedures (SOP’s), standard management plans (SMP’s) while in compliance with IACUC animal care standards.
  • Preps cattle for experimental trials, collects milk, feed, excreta and other samples, weighs and records amount of feed, milk and excreta.
  • Maintains records and enters data for digestion, metabolism and mastitis trials.
  • Performs other general duties related to dairy cattle husbandry, including research, teaching and Extension needs.
