About The Position

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services for over 125 years, offering more than 160 programs and services. Their Early Childhood Development Centers provide free Head Start services to low-income families for children aged 3 to 5 years. These centers utilize the Montessori approach to ensure children are school-ready through developmentally appropriate activities that foster cognitive, social, emotional, language-literacy, and physical development. The Head Start Program emphasizes active parent engagement, recognizing its crucial role in a child's development, and offers learning experiences tailored to children's evolving needs and abilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 2 years of experience in Human Services required.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing & reaching.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.

  • Family Development Credential preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English; Russian/English; Chinese/English; Korean/English; English/Creole speaking preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain necessary records.
  • Make referrals to appropriate agencies as needed.
  • Work with families in a supportive fashion.
  • Serve as a liaison between the center and parents from the community the program serves.
  • Assist in recruitment, interviewing, and registration efforts in accordance with Agency policies and Head Start Regulations to determine eligibility of qualified individuals.
  • Conduct In-Takes and Family Partnership Agreements.
  • Show parents around the center.
  • Elicit social and developmental information on the child, and share this information with teachers and other staff in compliance with family confidentiality requirements.
  • Input information in the data master, complete documentation, and prepare required reports to document compliance with guidelines on in-takes, eligibility, priorities, classroom attendance, and records.
  • Complete In-Kind Reports.
  • Receive and verify financial and other information needed to determine eligibility.
  • Contact families to receive information, referrals, and other services such as employment, mental health, counseling, housing, etc., as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
