About The Position

This position assists foster and birth parents by educating and modeling skills in positive parenting, behavior management, and problem-solving. The specialist supervises approved visits for youth and families, documenting each visit clearly. They model appropriate behavior and interactions, provide transportation as needed, and assist families in finding and utilizing community resources. The role requires writing clear, accurate, and timely progress notes and collaborating with agency programs and staff. Additionally, the specialist performs duties consistent with the agency's principles, values, policies, and procedures, models positive attitudes towards the agency's Mission, Vision, and Values, and maintains an organized calendar. Ongoing training is expected to expand professional skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma preferred
  • Experience working with children in foster care/residential care is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assists foster and birth parents, through education and modeling, to build skills in positive parenting, behavior management, and problem solving
  • Supervises approved visits for youth and families, including clear documentation of each visit
  • Models appropriate behavior and interactions for the youth and family
  • Provides transportation as necessary
  • Assists family in finding and utilizing community resources (e.g., parks, recreation, libraries, etc.)
  • Writes clear, accurate and timely progress notes consistent with each contact/visit
  • Works collaboratively with all agency programs and staff to provide support as needed
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with agency and community partners
  • Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the principles and values of agency, while adhering to applicable professional codes of ethics, the agency’s policies and procedures, contractor requirements, and regulatory requirements
  • Model and communicate appropriate positive attitudes toward the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Work collaboratively with all agency programs and staff to provide support as needed
  • Utilize and maintain calendar with all work-related details in order to manage time effectively and share calendar information with coworkers
  • Participate in on-going training to expand and develop professional skills
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the agency, as assigned
