About The Position

Salt Lake County Youth Services is seeking a Family Therapist for the Milestone Transitional Living Program. This program serves young adults aged 18-21 experiencing homelessness, aiming to provide safe housing, stabilize employment, build skills, connect them with community resources, and foster self-sufficiency to break the cycle of homelessness. Services include outpatient therapy, crisis work, and assessments for mental health and substance use disorders, all delivered with a client-centered approach. The program is part of a larger agency that offers resources while maintaining individualized services. The clinical team is experienced, and the environment encourages work-life balance with a 45% direct service ratio, flexible scheduling options, and no contract-based work that requires double booking clients.

Requirements

  • Current license in the State of Utah as a Certified Social Worker (CSW), Certified Social Worker Intern (CSWi), Certified Professional Counselor Intern (CPCI), Associate Professional Counselor (APC), Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor (ACHMC); Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MFTI).
  • Incumbents with a CSWi licensure must obtain a CWS license within 90 days or provide written documentation from DOPL of an extension.
  • Current license in the State of Utah as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and evidence-based group therapy to young adults in the Milestone Transitional Living Program.
  • Provides crisis intervention, clinical assessment, direct service, and referrals.
  • Performs clinical assessments, develops crisis and treatment plans based on the assessment, tracks and modifies the plan as required.
  • Provides direct clinical services including crisis intervention, short term individual, and group counseling.
  • Provides case management which may include coordinating and linking young adults to community resources, consulting with other providers, and making referrals as needed.
  • Completes case documentation and all required reports in the appropriate format and in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to, supervising interns, holiday clinical coverage, attendance at meetings, and serving on committees.
  • Complies with codes of professional ethics; strictly follow agency policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
