About The Position

This role involves providing intensive, evidence-based family therapy (Functional Family Therapy - FFT) to youth aged 11-18 and their families. The clients are typically involved in or at risk of gang affiliation, and the therapy is delivered in a home-based and community setting. The therapist will use strength-based, relational interventions to reduce risk, improve family functioning, and support long-term behavioral change. Key aspects include building trust, de-escalating conflict, promoting accountability, and collaborating with community partners, probation, and other service providers to ensure safety, stability, and positive outcomes. The position is described as impactful, dynamic, and grounded in the belief of family's power to drive change. The role is hybrid, with 20% remote work.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling or related field required.
  • License eligible (LCSW, LMHC-A, LMFT-A, etc.) or licensure preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role required.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics and/or crisis intervention preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking and time-management skills.
  • Basic computer skills required; knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to communicate and effectively interact with a diverse population.

  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Must authorize Child & Family to complete a motor vehicle records check.
  • Must meet all background checks and medical clearances required for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide family therapy to youth and families in a home-based setting and community context.
  • Work closely with a team of trained therapists to ensure the delivery of quality clinical care.
  • Participate in community outreach to support communities impacted by violence and inequity.
  • Engage families who are traditionally reluctant or oppositional to therapy, initiating services in a home-based setting.
  • Provide responsive interventions to youth involved in or at risk of gang affiliation, focusing on reducing risk factors and increasing protective factors.
  • Provide services with a variance of days/hours designed to respond to client/family needs/schedule.
  • Observe appropriate personal and professional boundaries and adhere to FFT and professional code of ethics.
  • Provide service or treatment plan based on an effective assessment, as well as provision of a closure and aftercare plan for clients and/or families.
  • Maintain required confidentiality regarding client case materials in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Provide required documents per specific contract and/or grant requirements or state and federal standards.
  • Provide all services required by the referral agency and FFT.
  • Maintain regular contact and respond to all calls and inquiries from the referring collateral.
  • Collaborate with community partners (e.g., probation, schools) to coordinate care and create a unified approach.
  • Participate in, and guide when appropriate, monthly meetings or collateral team meetings (Child & Family Team or other designated contract expectations).
  • Actively engage in community events and outreach efforts to build meaningful relationships, strengthen community presence, and support prevention and intervention efforts.
  • Provide guidance for clients and families in their interaction with referring agencies, schools, and other community organizations as needed.
