About The Position

Métis Child, Family & Community Services (MCFCS) Agency is a mandated child and family services agency with the responsibility to administer and manage culturally appropriate community-based child protection and support services for Métis and Inuit people in Manitoba. We have launched and expanded on some very important initiatives that have benefited those who need assistance to be able to move forward in their lives in a better, healthier way. Requirements

Post-Secondary Certificate, diploma or degree in Social Sciences
2 years of experience working with high-risk families or relevant experience.
Non-violent crisis intervention and current CPR or Emergency First Aid.
Knowledge of child development, behavior and family dynamics
Knowledge of Attachment Theory
Demonstrated understanding of Métis and Inuit culture and communities
Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information
Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, Prior Contact Check and a Driver’s Abstract upon hire at their own expense.
A valid Manitoba driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

Assisting with the development and implementation of a wide range of goal-oriented interventions to children and/or their families.
Mentoring parenting strategies.
Establishing, in coordination with parents, household routines.
Attaching families to community support services, overall to strengthen Metis families.
Providing, where requested, culturally relevant service or assist with access to such service.
