About The Position

At Children & Families of Iowa, the Family Support Worker helps children and families navigate difficult circumstances and work toward stability and healing. The role supports families experiencing trauma or other life challenges by providing guidance, transportation, crisis intervention, and supervised family interactions. The worker collaborates with parents, children, foster families, FCS team members, and other professionals committed to keeping families safe, supported, and connected. The position also involves coordinating meetings and completing timely, accurate case documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in human services working with children and/or dependent adults.
• Ability to work independently, respond to emergencies, and meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Reliable internet access or ability to work from an office location.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Auto insurance with liability coverage and a safe driving record.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree with at least six months of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field.
• Multilingual abilities; candidates with diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation for families and children as needed.
• Facilitate and supervise family interactions.
• Provide crisis intervention and support services.
• Coordinate and schedule meetings between families and FCS team members.
• Complete accurate and timely case documentation.
• Collaborate with a team dedicated to supporting and strengthening families.
