About The Position

The FSW - Attendant Care serves a vital role in day-to-day operations and care for children/youth. They are the primary caregivers, in supervising and attending to the safety and daily needs of children/youth, while maintaining a therapeutic environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a drug screen, MVR, KBI, Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance check and an Adult Registry Check.
  • FBI Fingerprint check.
  • Lifting requirements of 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 2 years’ experience working with children/youth and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct services including, but not limited to, crisis management, de-escalation, and behavior management to children/youth.
  • Participates in children/youth’s daily routine.
  • Provides structure to children/youth who are waiting in a Saint Francis Office.
  • Serves as an adult role model and a source of feedback to children/youth.
  • Supervises and monitors children/youth according to policy.
  • Provides positive, trauma informed interactions with children/youth.
  • Demonstrates respect and the ability to be open-minded and nonjudgmental towards children/youth.
  • Assists in the overall cleanliness of the office.
  • Tracks children/youth’s belongings and medication when they arrive and leave the office.
  • Helps to ensure the educational needs of children/youth are met either through participation with online schooling or attendance at an educational institution.
  • Ensures children/youth are engaged in activities throughout the day.
  • Ensures children/youth are being cared for and are provided meals and prescribed medication.
  • May transport children/youth to scheduled appointments such as medical or mental health, school, or placements.
  • Completes timely documentation for all children/youth receiving attendant care services.
  • May assist with clerical duties such as filing and answering phones as assigned.
  • May travel throughout the state of Kansas to provide case management services to children/youth and families or assist other offices in caring for children/youth and families.
  • Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of children/youth and families.
  • Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state, and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms.
  • Reports critical incidents to DCF according to policy.
  • Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
  • Ensures clients’ rights are protected.
  • Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.
