Family Support Specialist, Healthy Families
About The Position
CAMBA is a community organization dedicated to building an inclusive New York City by providing a wide range of integrated programs in areas such as Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. The Healthy Families Program specifically offers voluntary home visiting services to pregnant or newly parenting families in Brooklyn. This program pairs parents with knowledgeable workers who offer support during pregnancy and early childhood, aiming to strengthen parent-child relationships, promote healthy development, and enhance overall family well-being.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, Social Work, Early Education, Child Development or directly related field.
- Or High school diploma and a minimum of 1 year of experience in working with or providing services to children and their families, and/or providing community outreach to underserved communities.
- Good communication and writing skills.
- Knowledgeable of community resources to offer referrals.
- Experience in working with or providing services to children and their families.
- Ability to establish trusting relationships and acceptance of individual differences.
- Experience and humility to work with culturally diverse families.
- Knowledge of infant and child development.
- Open to reflective supervision.
Nice To Haves
- Bi-lingual English and Haitian Kreyol strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and maintain regular and long-term contact and support with families, primarily through home visits lasting at least one hour, with virtual visits as needed.
- Provide support to individuals and/or families requiring social service assistance.
- Assess applicants for services and develop service plans and goals with client input.
- Provide referrals to community resources for participants.
- Create and maintain participant files.
- Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
