About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. The role involves managing cashier funds, maintaining merchandise displays, assisting customers, and supporting employees. The clerk will also assume the responsibilities of the Family Store Manager as needed.

Requirements

Ability to meet attendance requirements.
High school diploma or G.E.D.
One (1) year working in a retail store, preferably a Salvation Army store.
Some experience supervising the work of co-workers.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.

Responsibilities

Supervises and participates in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse.
Ensures compliance with established policies and procedures.
Ensures the accountability and security of cashier funds.
Maintains the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise and ensures displays are well-stocked.
Assists customers in locating items and prices and explains store policy.
Assists employees in resolving routine problems and performing special assignments.
Assumes the responsibilities of the Family Store Manager as needed.
Assists the Family Store Manager in training and instructing employees.
Monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Supervises and participates in cashier activities, ensuring polite and friendly customer service.
Assists in ringing-up, recording, and receipting sales.
Assists in preparing daily sales reports and bank deposits.
Assists customers donating items.
Arranges, rotates, and re-stocks displayed items.
Determines appropriate prices for merchandise, ensuring quick turnover and fair pricing.
Detects merchandise that is not moving and reduces prices accordingly.
