About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a talented Family Specialist to make an impact in the lives of others. The Family Specialist is responsible for providing Center orientation to new families and offering direct assistance to families requiring extra support with applications or referral consents. This role will also help in the implementation and facilitation of family support programming, as well as center-driven programming and events. The position requires a high level of energy, a positive attitude, and adaptability to irregular hours, including some evenings and Saturdays. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs of the service population, understand the Protective Factors framework and Family Support Principles, and be bilingual in English/Spanish.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in serving families
  • Knowledgeable in community resources to provide assistance in implementing strength-based family programming and facilitating center-driven programming or events
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all client information
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs
  • Understand the value and foundation of the Protective Factors framework
  • Practice Family Support Principles
  • Accurate complete and timely submission of required documents and reports
  • Liaison to community providers
  • Adherence to agency policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and implementation of family support programming
  • Provide Center orientation to new families
  • Provide direct assistance to families that require additional support in completing applications or referral consents
  • Refer and link families to appropriate programs and community resources as needed
  • Coordinate and facilitate Center-driven programming and events
  • Support partner agencies with program registration and follow-up
  • Support the efforts of all CBFRC staff
  • Document services, maintain records, complete reports, purchase supplies, input data into a data base system
  • Ensure Center is a safe warm welcoming environment for all
  • Maintain cooperative working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, families, partners and the community
  • Work to support Center and collaborative outcomes
  • Follow all CBFRC Policies and Procedures
  • Perform targeted outreach as needed
  • Perform daily operating procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Cross trained to perform daily operating procedures
  • Participate in Center events and work to support contractual outcomes
  • Obtain training in the Center data system: Attendance and Needs Tracking System and maintain member confidentiality
  • Attend mandatory trainings and perform other duties as assigned
