About The Position

Under the supervision of the FCE Manager, the Family Service Supervisor supports and supervises Family Service Professionals in their duties related to family engagement, recruitment, enrollment, health documentation, and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards. This role includes oversight of program data, parent committees, staff support, and policy council recruitment. All employees employed by Chattanooga Head Start may work directly with children.

Requirements

  • BS degree in social work or a related field required.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with low-income families.
  • Fluency in language used by the families served.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of human development.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics.
  • Knowledge of needs of children.
  • Skills in record keeping and data entry.
  • Skills in working with state or federal regulations, deadlines, and mandates.
  • Skills in staff supervision and coaching.
  • Skills in proactive communication and responsive listening.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite: Mail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar, Meet; also Google Docs, Sheets.

Nice To Haves

  • MA in social work or related field preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred (additional compensation offered for bilingual proficiency).
  • Any combination of equivalent experience and education to perform the essential functions of the position will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Family Service Professional work, which begins with ensuring each child has up-to-date immunization, physical, and dental documentation for USDA and a Family Partnership Agreement with each family as soon as possible after enrollment, with frequent updates.
  • Monitors staff regarding assisting families to develop positive habits with their children about attendance.
  • Provides resource information to staff about community resources.
  • Ensures Family Service Professionals are providing parent training/education.
  • Plans and implements strategies for the timely recruitment of children and families at the center level and takes into consideration all county demographic information, ensuring full enrollment and a waiting list.
  • Ensures that all of the documentation by Family Service Professionals is complete and correct.
  • Meets with staff for the purpose of planning, scheduling, implementing, and problem-solving.
  • Assists Family Service Professionals to incorporate required training in their work with children and families.
  • Interacts with staff and parents, demonstrating appropriate interpersonal skills and provides support to staff as they work with each other and with parents.
  • Demonstrates work habits which comply with agency personnel policies and procedures, and completes special assignments from FCE Manager.
  • Establishes Center Committee and recruit and obtain Policy Council Representatives.
  • Supervises staff in planning parent activities and preparing calendars of monthly parent meetings and activities for the assigned center.
  • Coordinate and implement center-level parent events in collaboration with the Center Director.
  • Facilities active recruitment of eligible children for the program.
  • Administers the center Parent Involvement fund.
  • Evaluate the quality of services delivered by Family Service Professionals through regular monitoring and file reviews.
  • Provide coaching, supervision, and annual evaluations for Family Service Workers.
  • Serve as a backup Family Service Professional in the incidents of vacancies or leave.
  • Assists the Site Director in the smooth operations of the site.
  • Ensures consistent communication and coordination with ERSEA Staff to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Supervises children as a fill-in for educators to prevent classroom closure and/or undue hardship on center.
  • Must accomplish the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
